Weed Eater

The human usually doesn't let us help her as much as we would like, but yesterday we got to surprise her. She left the gate to the driveway unchained, and Mabel was quick to figure that out. We all decided to go out and help her get rid of the weeds. We cleared the fencerow of the nettles (yummy) and scrub mulberry bushes. We got rid of everything under the old gas tank.

Like many kids, the goat kids got distracted and decided to play in the ranger. They left hoof prints all over the seat.

We warned them, but they left other evidence of their playing too.

We got as much of the rose bush as we could reach. You'll notice we got all but the very top part. We worked so hard on this, and we really enjoyed this job. Jack really wanted to come out and help us, but the human didn't leave his gate open.

We worked on the cherry bushes. They are quite tall, and we couldn't get all the way to the top on them. Marley and Jack were very impressed with what a good job we did.

Some of us tried the weeds (she calls them hostas) under the cherry bushes, but the they didn't really taste too good, and we figured she wouldn't be too mad if we left a little. After all, we got rid of a lot of green stuff.

By the time we finished, Joe was taking a nap and Jilly had curled up on top of the cattle tank waiting to be hauled away. Lily, Muffin, Betty Lou and Helen had found their way into the lean to and was eating a bale of straw--go figure. All this hard work, and the human didn't even say thank you!
