In This Corner...

Naughty Rooster Boy was kicked out of the chicken coop because he was so mean and nasty to the other roosters.

He still likes to hang out by the chicken pen now that the weather is nice.

The orange rooster isn't afraid of him now though.

There's a fence that keeps him safe.

Look who's all tough!

They could fight all day!

Except Cutie and Vixen don't appreciate being in the fight.

Looks like he picked a fight in the wrong corner.

Look at that chicken run!

Be sure to visit Verde Farms for Farm Friend Friday!

Peacekeeping Mission

Millie has been shut up and not feeling well for a while, but she does act better. She has a bit more energy.

Now she's just crabby. She's cranky.

Throw my daughter Betty Lou into the mix and Millie's wasting all of her energy on fighting.

I have to step in to intervene. I hope she knows I'm not going to keep doing this forever.

She needs to store up that energy, gain weight, and take back her place in the herd.

Cutie's Home!

Cutie and Pam came home today. I was the only one (besides kids) in the barnyard when they arrived. Oh, Cutie, is a tough one. She's my half sister, but sometimes she really isn't very nice. She started to challenge me and put the hair up on her back, but I just told her to knock it off. I'm above that stuff. Besides the human doesn't like it when we fight.

Her twins also came home. They got put up with the other girls that are being weaned. They are not happy about it.

When everyone else came up from pasture things got a bit out of control. Minnie doesn't really start fights, but Cutie has started it enough that Minnie is still trying to finish it from all those previous challenges.

In the blue collar with the wattles we have Minnie Pearl. In the pink collar with the nasty look in her eye is Cutie Pie.

Last time they got into a fight Cutie had a black eye and ripped her udder (she was actually leaking milk). They better watch out for my Bambi, or I will have to get involved.

If I had to put money on it, I'd bet on Minnie. She's retired and is healthier than she's ever been in her life.

Cutie has been raising twins. She has had knee and shoulder problems in the past. She doesn't look like she's too sure about winning.

They are both very strong girls.

Minnie has excellent form.

Angel and Vixen don't look to happy about the fighting. I wouldn't want to fight with either one. I'm a peace keeper, not a fighter.

Then Pam had to deal with her own problems.

I would expect the girls from her own age group to fight, but she had all the yearlings and Annie. The only ones in her age group challenging her were Dolly and Stormy.

None of them would have picked on her if Cutie hadn't been so busy with Minnie and Meg, who joined the ruckus.

It's going to be a long night. Angel and Vixen screaming for their mom. Horns smashing together. The human yelling, "Ladies don't fight. Can't you just get along."

Oh, it's definitely going to be a long, noisy night.

A note from the human. She's aware of some issues with her blog (accessibility, missing pictures, etc.). Please be patient as she tries to resolve the problem.
