All Goats Go To Heaven

It's true you know.  All goats go to Heaven.  It has to happen sooner or later one way or another.  We just sent our wonderful goatie sister, Cutie, to the ultimate forever farm.  We got lab results back, and the reason Cutie had such achy joints was CAE.

If you've never heard the story of how we came to live with the human at Eden Hills, she got us when we were very, very young and sick-coccidiosis, frost bite, and infections.  Now she knows the last of the health problems we came with.  CAE.

Me

I will be nine-years-old in a couple of weeks.  I'm happy.  I love my life and my herd and my human.

Myson

I do have days though when my lungs rattle, and I get a bit tired.  Now the human can quit that hovering and asking if I'm okay and what's wrong with me.  Now she knows.

I do plan on enjoying every day that I have left here, and if the winter isn't too bad, I might even make it to my tenth birthday!

Now, don't give me sympathy because you'll start my goofy human to crying again.

How Bambi Does It

My sweet girl Bambi doesn't have horns, so she can't test out a cedar tree for herself.  She's smart enough to join me or her Auntie Cutie.

Once Cutie gives her the word, Bambi jumps in to help herself to a yummy tree snack!

Life is good when you can find a tasty cedar tree!

The Pasture

After being stuck in the barn all day yesterday, it was nice to go outside and browse in the pasture today.

Cutie still comes with us every time we go out to pasture, but her arthritic hips do slow her down.  I feel lucky that I don't have that problem.

The kids are getting big.  They are almost as big as Lotus.

Horton is certainly a mama's boy.  He's glued right to Cinnamon.

Buck spends half his browsing time maaing for Vixen and begging for a quick drink.  He's getting a bit big for that, I think.

We had such a beautiful day after the rain!

I'm happy we have such a great place to browse.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yep, it's the day we celebrate my birthday!

Although I must say I was not happy that I had to have Dr. Hickman come see me today. The human is such a worrier, especially since I'm four months pregnat. I have a bit of evening cough because of our warm wet evenings.

I'm fine really. I certainly did not deserve the rude exam I received. Harumph! I did get a peanut though. I did last night too.

It's also the day we celebrate my twin sister Minnie's birthday.

She was enjoying the peanut treats too.

Cutie also gets to celebrate her birthday with us.

See we weren't born on the farm, so we don't know the exact day we were born. We all celebrate on February 1.

We all turned eight-years-old. Even Meg.

She wasn't happy to see Dr. Hickman either because he chopped and picked at her sore hoof. It's back to a bit of hoof rot.

(Don't tell her, but I heard the human say she was going to do more garlic treatments and put the boot back on before our bad weather this weekend).

An Epic Fight (The Finale)

After Vixen and Lotus fought all around the barnyard, the fight was taken into the barn.

By this time, Cutie was getting a bit tired of all this fighting too.

But Lotus was relentless. Vixen wasn't about to back down! (She inherited that from her maa.)

Everyone else was getting tired of this fighting too.

Guess who finally said, "That's enough!" after the fight went right through the middle of his pile of hay.

The llama. He might be cranky, but he knows that fighting isn't good during dinner time.

Finally, everyone settled down to eat, and everyone is getting along so well now. Everything is back to normal.

Except Cutie is still giving the human the goat stare of death for bringing Vixen to this side right during dinner time.

The Fight Continues

Well, I was telling you about the Epic Fight that started with Lotus challenging Vixen when she joined our side of the barnyard.

Cutie wasn't too happy with her little kid being picked on. That plucky little mini-goat just kept it up.

Vixen's big sister, Pam, decided she'd better join in. After all, family is family.

She came to her sister's aid, and Lotus didn't back down one little bit. Of course, Cutie kept a very close eye on both of her babies.

Pam suddenly remembered that she shouldn't be fighting because she's pregnant.

Not to mention she really needed to go eat.

An Epic Fight (Part I)

The human brought Vixen back into my side of the barnyard so she could be with her maa, Cutie. We could hear her being drug, kicking and screaming, through the chicken pen. When Vixen saw us through the door, she was very excited and ran to her maa.

Her maa wasn't too thrilled. She's decided it's nice having a more mature daughter like Pam around. So Cutie said, "Get out from my pile of hay and go eat somewhere else."

Well, before long, someone started a fight. You know it's going to happen, even though Vixen had only been with the boy for three weeks.

It was quite the battle. It started outside between the two of them. It was strangely an uneven match. Vixen is as much a princess as her older sister was, and Lotus was pushing her around.

Then it grew even larger! Opal joined Lotus and they were tag-teaming poor Vixen.

That was enough for Cutie's maa instincts to kick in.

She told Lotus to leave her kid alone.

But this fight is far from over. You'll have to come back to see who else got involved.

Cutie and Her Girls

Cutie has two of her grown daughters living with her here at Eden Hills.

Pam, Vixen Cutie

Pam is the older of the two girls, and Cutie still treats Vixen like her baby. Vixen is never very far from her Maa, and even eats with her, sleeps by her and is practically glued to her side.

Poor Pam doesn't get any of her Maa's time or attention.

She has to eat by herself and curl up all alone.

Pam

But now, the human has split them up. Vixen is in with Boeris, and that leaves Pam and Cutie together. I think Pam is enjoying it. Now she gets to eat with her Maa.

Vixen is the one eating by herself.

She walks around saying, "Maa..." It's quite sad really. The human says she'll get to rejoin Cutie very soon.

For now, I think Pam enjoys basking in the sun without her little sister between her and Cutie.

She deserves this attention. After all, she is Princess Pam.
