After supper yesterday, we all went out to pasture to browse as is our habit. It is quite nice, but last night in the middle of a step and a bite, Vixen went, "Maaa!!" Then she laid down and worked and pushed and Maaa'd some more and finally pushed out her big baby.
After that she was awfully tired. After all, she was browsing and eating and gave birth and cleaned off a baby and let the baby nurse and then she just wanted to curl up with her little doe and take a nap. Of course, we all went back to the barnyard leaving her out there alone.
When the human came out to check everyone, she noticed that Vixen wasn't in the barnyard. She made some comment about her not being due until the end of the month and went to check in the barn and other buildings. I tried telling her what was going on, but she never listens to me.
Finally, she set out for the pasture. I had almost dozed off when Vixen came running into the barnyard frantically calling out, "Maaa...the human stole my baby!" Well, her ma, Cutie, didn't jump up in alarm, which just kept Vixen talking crazy and calling to her baby. In just a couple of minutes, the human came walking into the barnyard carrying a big baby and asking Vixen where she wanted her daughter.
Finally, everyone settled down, and we got to go to sleep.
