My mom, Narcissa, was very nice to me. She let me nurse for a long time. My lady would see big old me having to just about lay down on the ground to get a snack and she'd tell my mom not to let me try to nurse. Tee hee. Eventually though, my mom weaned me. Sigh.
She's just letting them ease some of the discomfort when she's too swollen...she'll cut them off completely soon. Poor things. Why does it always seem that mothers in nature have a much easier time letting the kids go than we humans?
Isobelle--she sounds like a good mother. I too let my kids nurse forever.
Jen--We goats understand the natural way of the world more than humans. We goats know that kids grow up and go away to find their own way in the world without always coming home for Christmas or to do laundry.

I think Joe forgot to tell the kids they were being weaned!
