Temptation

Oh, I don't know why that silly human plants all those delicious flowers. She doesn't eat them. She won't let us eat them. And look, they are so yummy looking.

The tulip would make one little snack bite.

The whole magnolia tree would make a snack for all of us. The whole air is filled with the scent of magnolia, and it makes me want to munch.

The flowering almond is our favorite. It's the best goat candy you could have. What did she do? She moved the bush so we couldn't even get a tiny little bite.

She even added pink flowering almond bushes, but we cant reach them either.

I'm not sure. The bleeding hearts look like they might tickle going down, but I would definitely give it a try.

If only we could reach all the flowers instead of just smelling and dreaming.

Growing

The kids are really growing. It's hard to believe they are already a month old. Pistol and Vinnie were born one month ago today, and the youngest ones will be a month old on the 25th.

Just try getting a still photo of Pistol. She never stops moving. Vinnie is a bit calmer.

Mason is the only one without a twin so far. He throws himself whole heartedly into anything he does, including sharing mom's hay.

Mason also has play companions Angel and Vixen, Cutie's girls. They are growing as fast as any other, so being bottle kids hasn't hurt them. They've also become easy to feed; both come racing any time the human comes out.

Big Red and Rover are fearless and full of inquiry. They like to check out everything. The oak limb in the ground seems to taste good, but I will stick to the green stuff.

My grandkids, Spice and Sugar, are so photogenic. They like to pose and the camera just loves them. Maybe they have future careers as spokesgoats.

Fancy is small, but she has lots of energy and bounce. I think she holds her ears up just to show off those fancy ear wattles.

Velvet makes a friend of Bob. Neither one looks too sure about it.

Tracks

The human lets everyone out in the new big pasture except for us goats. I didn't understand why until she showed me some pictures. There are big scary monsters out in the pasture that have left their tracks by the ditch.

The little ones on the left are raccoons. The ones that look a lot like my prints really belong to deer. These alone are enough to make me grateful that the human has a nice safe barn for us.

This one is huge. It must belong to a giant monster. What could possibly be this big? Hmmm...

Not a Goat Treat

First, the human's blog (www.edenhills.blog.com) is back up and running. You'd think she wouldn't need me to relay a message for that, but I'm good. I'll do it for her. Maybe we'll get a treat out of it.

The magnolia tree would taste so good if we could just reach those flowers.

A Message From the Human & Goose Treat

A Message From the Human:
My human wanted me to pass on the information that she is working on getting her blog back up and running. While she can't blog, she's busy farming and actually working instead of spending all her time on the computer.

Goose Treat:
Me, I'm just lounging around and enjoying the beautiful weather. I would enjoy it more if I could just finish shedding this winter coat. It was positively steamy today. Even the kids were panting.

Those geese. There's just no figuring them out. The big white dog has enough taste not to eat soggy dog food. A dog--they eat poop like it's a treat. They won't eat soggy dog food, but those geese. When the human throws that gross soggy stuff out, they start honking and run as fast as they can and act like it's a great treat. I'll never understand them. I just don't understand why she doesn't give us something as a treat if she's giving the birds one.

Minnie the Kidsitter

Minnie Pearl is my twin sister. She's named after the country music singer Minnie Pearl. The singer always left the tags hanging on her hat, and my twin Minnie has wattles hanging from her neck. I'm sure it made sense to our human when she named us. This is Minnie and me in the barnyard.

Minnie loves kids. She is really nice to everybody's kid; that's just the way she is. She is not having any kids of her own this year because she is retiring. Sometimes, she likes to stay up in the barnyard by herself while everyone is down in pasture. Today that backfired. She was just trying to stay there for a little peace and quiet. Instead, she had six kids bouncing around her.

After putting up with their bouncy play for a while, she decided she would join the rest of us grown-up goats and get a break from the kids. Instead, she ended up taking six kids to pasture with her (Hee, hee).
Minnie is looking down the hill to see where we are at, or more specifically where the missing moms are. The kids are from left to right: Velvet and Fancy (Meg's), Rover and Red (Lily's), and Vinnie and Pistol (Dolly's). They aren't even her grandkids!
