A Precarious Perch

Some fluffy little chicken was sitting on the "training stanchion." I think she was having a hard time staying on there.

Of course it didn't help with Dora the Explorer Rooster eyeing her tail feathers.

Did I say eyeing? I meant jumping up and grabbing her tail feathers.

Those chickens...

Luckily she got herself balanced and didn't fall off.

Misbehaving

There goes Naughty Rooster Boy, just minding his own business.

He's looking for good things to eat.

Who's that back there following me?

"Awwwkk! He pulled my tail!"

"Quit following me."

A Different Kind of Coat

It's turned cold again. Someone has a down coat.

I wonder if it's as warm as our thick fur coats.

I doubt it! Litha looks awfully warm.

More Pumpkin

I told you our pumpkin was so nice and delicious that I might have to tell you more about it. Well, here it is. Sally was happy munching on her chunk.

Those silly geese thought it was for them too.

Litha and her daughter, Maddy, were sharing.

Naughty Rooster Boy was helping himself.

Jilly scared him away. (Look at that tail blowing in the breeze!)

I did help myself to a bit more, but I don't want to make a pig (Annie) of myself.

Bambi enjoyed eating pumpkin.

Not nearly as much as she enjoys being with her Maaaaa.

Hope you all have a pumpkin-filled week!

Apple Treat

The human brought apples out for us.

She didn't cut them up for us. What was she thinking? Maggie and Helen tried them, but they couldn't get their teeth into those whole apples.

Sadie tried it too, but she didn't have any better luck.

Annie managed to get a little bite, but Sally was more interested in using her mom's horn to scratch her own head.

The only ones who got to enjoy the apples...

and

What kind of treat is that?

Summer Fun

The human let us into our good old pasture again. The kids are really enjoying the old stumps.

Stormy seems to be the biggest kid. You'd never guess that she is a responsible adult with her own kid.

Flash looks like he could enter a long jump contest.

Kizzy finally brought her girls out. I think that is just great.

I do wish, however, she would not try to kill any kid (my Bambi) that gets within ten feet.

Here, she is giving Flower and Bud the goat stare of death. They weren't too scared.

She's already chased Bob Cat a couple of times.

The human suggested she go after Rooster Boy if she really wants to kill someone. He's gotten a bit full of himself since Tammy's chickens went to be processed, and he is still here.

Hay Day

The human started cleaning out the barn because she said it was old, icky hay, and we deserve better. We all tried to help her out, even though she said it was icky.

Minnie has a thing for the truck. She's always hopping in there to see what she can find.

From top to bottom is Stormy, Penny, Helen and Maggie. They were making sure the bales weren't going to fall off the truck.

We're not really sure why Spice was clear on top of the truck. Jilly was helping even though she's due to have baby(ies) on July 11th. Those silly kids are playing under the truck. Don't worry. Nobody was hurt or injured with the human's working and driving in the barnyard. The only loss was one of our water buckets. Darn human drivers!

Sally's the only one who got to help her in the barn with sorting and cleaning because she hadn't been feeling well. She certainly seems to be acting better now, so why did she get to go in? We don't know.
Even after the human finished for the day, there was some hay left outside. The geese don't think it looks bad.

Neither does naughty Rooster Boy.

Minnie seems to think it makes a nice place for a nap.

Tomorrow, I bet we get the nice fresh hay coming in! I did promise cute, dry pictures of Kizzy's babies. Here they are. This is Dana, who was born first.

Her twin sister is Dixie.

I have to admit, Dixie is really cute, even if she isn't one of my kids or grandkids.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Things have really been happening here. It's cooler and rainy. I'm still trying to figure out when I want to have kids. I did get to go spend the afternoon in the shed Cutie and Pam had shared because we had a lot of rain, thunder and lightening. The human didn't like us in the metal hut under the tree, so she moved us. Now I'm back to laying in the hut under the tree.

Scarlet has finally brought her triplets outside. Right after the human trimmed her hooves, she opened the gate for them to come out. They are certainly going to keep Scarlet on her toes. Good thing her feet are in better shape now.

She has one little girl with a bad eye. She's washing it with garlic water and putting a salve in it, so it is looking better. Maybe she got something in it when she was born. It's more likely that the lid was turned in. The vet said to make sure she pulled that lower lid out when she put the salve in, and it might be enough to correct it; otherwise, she'd have to have a clip put on it to correct the problem.

We have someone to watch over all the kids. It started with Mabel and her babies. Now, he watches and follows and looks after all the kids. It's kind of weird really.

Muffin's girls look much better now that they are dry and fluffy. They are two girls. Neither one has obvious horn buds, but we'll just have to wait a few days to see for sure. They both have wattles, just like their mom. Muffin hasn't brought them out yet, but she did have to share the building with them during the rain storm.

Here's Bob. He's always hanging out with us in the barnyard. He better not go near Muffin's girls because she tries to kill anything that comes near her babies: cats, geese... I hope the rooster doesn't try to check on her kids.

Last night, Litha decided to have her babies. She had twins. This one arrived first, and is a little girl.

Next came this little boy. The human said they arrived at 2:00 am. I wouldn't know because I was sleeping.

Just Another Day

Hmmm... looks like she could use some more rubbing and scratching.
Strange roomies. They are both fierce when they have babies!
Dolly has resorted to the feed tub to control her girls again.
He hasn't been mean to anyone lately. Does that mean he'll get to stay?
He used to stay with us, but he doesn't like our kids bouncing all over him.
Just another day around the farm.
