A Mother's Patience

My daughter and her girls, Sugar and Spice. All mothers will feed their daughters, but I think Pebbles has the patience of a saint.
Spice is a little bit ornery. She likes to use her mother as a jungle gym. Pebbles just lets her play.
Oops, mom is a bit slippery to stand on. She woke up twin sister, Sugar.
Sometimes, Spice even gets Sugar wound up.

But it only lasts a moment before Sugar is back to being Mom's sweet little girl and Spice is still pretending Mom is a trampoline.

She has found a good use for Mom's horn. It makes an awesome scratching post.

Even Spice has her moments. The whole family shares a snuggling time.

I think Pebbles gets her patience from her mother, me.

Statue

Look. A statue of Kizzy.

Oh the Joys

There used to be a big white tank sitting on these two concrete blocks. After our human took it out, there was this funny thing sticking up. I tried playing my horns on it, but it was too floppy.
I gave it a good sniff. It didn't smell like it would taste good.
It works well for scratching my face. Kizzy was really checking out what I was doing.
Hmm. Maybe I can pry this stinking cast off my horn with it.
No such luck, but it works awesome for scratching.
It can even go where I can't reach. Oh, yeah. That's the spot.
I can even get back here by my collar. What a great scratcher.
Kizzy is a copy cat!

Cutie Pie

Cutie might be my half sister, but I am so upset with her. She is a nanny. The very word implies that we love our kids and take care of our kids. Don't get me wrong, she is a very protective mom to Angel and Vixen. She is being so mean to her daughter Pam, however, that our human had to kick her out of the north pen.
How could she be mean to sweet Princess Pam? I realize it gets hard to manage our older kids and younger kids at the same time, but you can't make your daughter and her baby stand outside in the rain (goats don't like rain). Lily managed to raise Sadie with her older daughter, Dolly, glued to her side with all of their babies curled up like triplets. Heck, I had Pebbles and her kids and Joe and her kids and my newest kid all curled up next to me last year. It was crowded, but we all got along.
Besides, when she isn't in the north pen with Pam, she's in the barnyard with all of us. That isn't fun because she's even more mean to us. I hope she doesn't chase Pam out of the building tonight because it's suppose to rain some more, and we don't want Cutie with us.

Success!

It worked! I knew our human wouldn't want the bad publicity of her goats protesting such foul conditions. Early this morning, a new wading pool miraculously appeared.

The geese seem happy to be able to take a bath again.

Stormy was happy to find a bucket that still had clean water.

Even the ducks got their wading pool cleaned out. Quackers, in the pool, and Chess, the solid black drake, will be eleven in May. They are the two oldest birds in the barnyard.

He can still make the water fly!

Protest

Lately, we've had a bit of a problem trying to find a nice clean drink of water. We have several buckets to drink from, and our human fills them several times a day.

Still, we can't find a decent bucket of water to drink. It's positively gross.

How would you like to drink from this. It is positively muddy and with feathers and bits of grass and stuff.

I believe we know what the problem is. It is really quite obvious.

The geese have sharp serrated beaks that they use to rip grass from the ground. They also have funky things along their tongues that they can use to filter a mouthful of dirt to separate the dirt from the good stuff (bugs, roots, etc.).

They stick their mouth full of dirt in our nice bucket of water and force the dirt out while retaining the good stuff. That makes our water gross. Our human needs to do something about this.
It's not our fault the backhoe operator mangled the kiddie pool for the geese.

She might as well ask us to drink from the mud puddle. Look--there is a little piece of the wading pool.
As the president of the goat union here at Eden Hills, I decided to organize a protest.

We will form a picket line. Here, Stormy helps twin sister Litha get a sign fixed into her collar.
Mabel checks out the sign, ready to help us in our efforts to gain clean water without geese.

Minnie was absolutely no help; she just ate the sign she was supposed to picket with.

Barney reads the sign his mother carries in her collar.

I'm sure this will work. We'll picket until we get rid of those geese and don't have to put up with feathers and dirt in our water buckets!

A Horn Player

I love to play my horns. I could spend all my time tapping on the fence. If I'm really on my game, I can make a neat squeak.

The only thing better, is playing horns after supper, when I can chew my cud to the beat.
