Through the Window

I told you yesterday that we found an open window. Once we go through the window, it's pure browsing heaven!

Penny must have found something tasty up high in that tree. I wonder if she'll share with her grandnanny.

Vixen is looking back into our pasture.

How did she get home?

It's easy to get back and forth through the open window.

Jilly is quite the little jumper.

Darla seems to have inherited her maaa's skills.

Victoria is a bit more jumping challenged.

Don't worry! She made it back into our big pasture. (By the way, that's Cookie's back feet.)

Eventually, everybody gets their turn through.

Isn't it wonderful that we can hop over and browse in the woods?

A Window, Not a Door

Remember when we were looking for a nice open door from our big pasture into the forest?

It's certainly not a door, but a window will do. I know you can't hardly see it in my blog photographer's bad picture, but there it is. An open window.

All we have to do is hop up through there, and then it's browsing heaven.

Blaze Gets a Helping Hand

Blaze wonders what on earth she has on her face that tickles.

She can just see it out of the corner of her eye.

Darn goose down feathers.

It's not easy to pluck those feathers off when you have hooves.

"Well, aren't you going to help me?"

That's much better!

Sometimes everyone needs a helping hoof.

Boeris Gets a Treat Too

The human took some maple leaves to Boeris. She thought he might like them too, especially since he was new to the farm.

At first he didn't know what to think. He sniffed them from the front,

and he sniffed them to the right. He told me that he's never lived in a place that brings a buck a treat.

He sampled the leaves and decided they were pretty tasty.

He was really enjoying it.

He was happy she had more in her hand.

He's decided he'll like living here!

We're happy to have him too.

The Look of Bliss

Helen seems to have inherited her mother's love of maple leaves.

The human says the tree is getting ready for a long winter's nap and doesn't really need all those leaves.

Helen hopes she will get to eat all of them.

She certainly does make short work of those leaves.

They even look like they were finger licking good!

Don't worry about me.

Of course the human gave me a delicious snack of maple leaves also.

I hope we get some more.

Be Still My Beating Heart

The human brought home a handsome new buck this weekend.

Be still my beating heart. He's playing coy.

If I hadn't already danced the rhumba with Marley, I'd be coaching Boeris on how to break out of his pen.

I think he's just perfect for my daughter, Bambi!

What do you think?

Indian Summer Pests

We've been having unseasonably warm weather. Around here the humans call it Indian Summer. We just call it hot.

All those nasty little bugs that hadn't been bothering us when it was cool are back.

Kizzy knows how to take care of those flies.

Pretty talented isn't she?

It almost makes me wish I had long floppy flyswatter ears. Almost.
