No More Free Range Chickens

Naughty Rooster Boy and his two hens were free ranging. The human has been a bit worried about the girls because they were inside and she couldn't get them much food. (I don't know why she thinks we wouldn't share grain with them).

They've been out a bit more, but they still didn't get nice bright combs like Naughty Rooster Boy. (His isn't as bright as it sometimes is.)

Then a couple of days ago, the phoenix just strolled into the duck, chicken and peafowl pen~her old home where the raccoon attacks occurred.

She seemed quite content.

Naughty Rooster Boy and the other hen would hang around, but the human couldn't ever get them to go in. Yesterday morning when she came out before sunrise to milk Minnie, Rooster Boy was just sitting on the ground by the pen. She scooped him up and put him inside.

Then she found the little orange hen. She is very thin and pale. You can't see how thin she is, but when the human picked her up, she was just skin and bones.

We hope she'll be okay.

Queen of the Stump

Victoria was playing Queen of the Stump. Her maa was keeping a close eye on things.

Victoria was challenging Blaze.

That seems kind of silly because Blaze is three months older and much bigger.

Blaze says, "Sure, I'll play Queen of the Stump with you."

Here she comes.

Can you guess what happened?

Vinnie says, "Nobody messes with my baby!"

A Curious Chick

Those little chicks are very curious.

This one was asking her friends what that yellow bucket said.

None of them could figure it out, so I told them.

It says, "Human's bucket for carrying corn to Millie."

It looks like she doesn't believe me...

Dancing with the Stars

I'm practicing for Dancing with the Stars. I figure I'm a famous goat now, and I can do it.

Marley and I danced the rhumba! Isn't he a big hunk of goaty muscle!

The human wasn't happy with him for breaking through the big gate.

I wasn't happy because I'm not the only one he danced the rhumba with.

Fighting the Herd Queen

Can you see who Lotus challenged?

Lotus challenged my twin sister, the herd queen, the one and only Minnie Pearl!

I don't know what that little miniature Nigerian Dwarf was thinking.

She's tiny.

But she is mighty plucky!

She just kept coming back.

I think it's a good thing Minnie is good natured.

Lotus Challenges...

You'll never believe who Lotus was challenging this morning.

Can you guess?

You'll have to come back tomorrow to find out.

My Pumpkins are Harvested

Remember my pumpkin garden. Well, some goats (I won't say who) started nibbling my pumpkin plant.

Pretty soon, it looked like this.

Darn goats! We sampled the mini pumpkins, but they didn't taste very good.

Today, the human gathered up all my pumpkins. Look at all my pumpkins!

Then she brought out a pumpkin for me, but before she could get to me, my girl Joe smelled it.

She was determined to get that pumpkin!

Finally she got her bite.

She wasn't about to let anyone else have her bite.

Then the human brought the rest over for me to try.

I did enjoy a nice little sample of my pumpkin.

I think next year I might try growing watermelons. That sounds good.
