Fall

It is so pretty here right now. The trees are green and yellow and red and some are already bare.

I just love to stand out here and look around. I do enjoy browsing too.

Obviously, Muffin doesn't need to eat any more; look at that belly. Sugar seems to admire how much Muffin can eat.

We have so much yummy stuff to eat. I wonder if they are leaving that huge bale of hay here for us too.
The weather has gotten much better, so we would have to walk right in the ditch to get muddy now.
I just love fall at Eden Hills. Truly it is perfect!

Dana's Leaf

This is Dana.

She certainly did seem to be enjoying trying to eat this leaf.

She never did get it.

Finally, she dropped it and gave up.

Is This Heaven?

Bambi finally convinced me to join the rest of the herd out in pasture. I went with them, and we went all the way to the back hill, where the human had looked for me a couple of days ago. When she came back there today, I asked her, "Did I die and go to Heaven?"

She looked at me and said, "Silly Millie. This isn't Heaven; it's Iowa!"

I couldn't believe all the big green pasture. I had two of my girls with me--little Bambi and my Joe. Bekka, my grandkid, was right there too. The whole family!
There were areas of tall grass.

Everyone knew exactly where they wanted to go, but I just had to keep looking. I didn't know this even existed.

Collars

I am not the only goat around here gaining weight. In fact, a lot of our girls seem to be outgrowing their collars!

Maggie needs a bigger collar. She is one of the yearlings, and she has really filled out and grown.

Helen, another yearling, needed her collar loosened, and now she won't let the human catch her. She looks like some kind of stray without a collar.

Look who else needs a bigger collar. She's not maturing, though. She's positively fat.

Maybe I'll outgrow mine if I keep eating. Scarlet doesn't have a collar either, but she didn't outgrow hers. She lost it fighting. The human wasn't too happy with her.

Love Is...

having a human that will walk to the far ends of the property to make sure you are okay. Really, she walked all the way to the back of the Back Hill to find me.

See how far away the barn is. And she couldn't even walk straight there. She took Lily's Long Way Around.

She never did find me out there, but she said everybody was having fun. That's my daughter Pebbles spinning around so she looks all blurry.

Everyone followed the human part way back to the barn. When they got to the first crossing, she said some of them (like Penny) were staring at the neighbor's waterway because they were naughty and went in there to eat yesterday.

That's Scarlet in the middle down below. She was shut in the same time as me, but she looks nice and fat now. She obviously wasn't near as sick as me.

Guess where she found me!

Yep, I was in the barnyard the whole time. I just didn't hear her call my name because I was browsing and trying to find something green to eat. She wasn't even mad at me.

In fact, she brought me hay just like she said she would if I didn't go out to eat.

She even brought me some sweet feed.

Are you tired of seeing pictures of me eating? I think the human should take some other pictures for you to look at. I'll see what I can do.

Day Out

My first day back out with the rest of the herd was actually quite nice. I got to see my little boy Beau.
I finally got to go play my horns on one of my favorite places--the loose tin on the barn.

When everyone else went to pasture, Bambi and Beau stayed with me. They finally convinced me that it would be nice to go out and eat some grass.

I must say, we were there for just a little while when the human came to check on us, and I'd had enough.

I went back to the barnyard with her. Bambi and Beau came too, and the human was nice enough to give us some hay.

I had a little problem with the hay, but Beau was there to help his mom. Isn't he sweet?

All of this activity wore me out. I took a nice long nap. Even though it wore me out, I am so happy to be out with everyone.

I hope you all had a great day too!

I'm Back!!!!

It's Millie here. First I want to say thank you to everyone who sent me get well wishes. I've spent nearly a month just resting and eating. Hard to believe I've been away that long.

With the first full week (and longer now) of dry weather since mid-April, everybody is leaving the barnyard in the morning and not returning until suppertime in the evening. I have lonely with nobody but Sourpuss Scarlet and the obnoxious Flower and Bud for company. Look where they hang out.

The human showed me the pictures because I wanted to know where my kids were. After all, I'm still their mom. There's Bambi by Cutie. She said Beau was there too, but I didn't see him in any of the pictures.

There is my sister, Minnie behind Vixen and Angel. I hope she has been taking care of my blog and not doing anything weird to chase my adoring readers away.

They spend all day out there alternating between laying under the trees and browsing on the field where they just made hay. The human must have felt bad because she brought me some peach to eat.

She said this was the part that got bad before she got around to using them. If this is the bad part, I can only guess how yummy the good parts were.

I can't believe she gave some of my peaches to Flower and Bud. They didn't even want it. Silly kids.

The human said I'm doing well enough that she might take me out to pasture tomorrow. Oh, I hope I get to go eat some fresh green grass.
