Pool and Beard

I get to lay in the pool at night because I am the herd queen.

Not everybody gets to lay in a pool. Most of them have to sleep on the ground.

But I am herd queen.

Look what happened to me in pasture today.

How humiliating to have burrs in your beard.

By the way, Bob can see with both eyes again, and he got to come visit us.

Where's Bob?

We have a cute little buddy that hangs out with us, but we haven't seen our friend Bob for a couple of days. I asked the human where he went. Look at this!!!!

He got something in his eye that he appears to be allergic to, so the human won't let him out.

He's not very happy about it. I thought I could hear him whining all the way out here once.

I must say, he isn't very photogenic. We goats are always ready to pose for our picture.

She thinks he'll get to come out tomorrow if it keeps looking better.

Who's the Nanny?

Around here, the human likes to have goat milk for bottle kids and yogurt and cheese. My sister Millie and I have been the two nannies the human could count on. Look at my udder--it is a highly efficient milk-making machine.

But she retired me. I had my babies last summer, she milked me into the fall, and then I dried up and retired.

All these other young girls think they are too delicate to be milked or just don't have the high quality milking genes of Millie and me.

I kept begging the human to let me be her milking nanny because I was born to milk. It's my chosen mission in life. She just kept telling me, "But Minnie, you're not lactating."

She wants lactating. I'll show her lactating. Through daily meditation and visualizations, I managed to achieve my goal.

How's that? I challenge any other retired milking nanny out there to do better!

Can you believe these girls? Meg, Cutie, and Angel are just hanging around making goo goo eyes at the guys. Litha was afraid to join in the love fest. Those big girls are not nice when the hormones are flying.

Angel is a little young, but she seems to think Marley is quite handsome.

Who wouldn't like a romantic guy, whispering sweet nothings in her ear?

Cutie is smitten with Jack.

Millie isn't interested in boys. She's only interested in food.

She might not be fat and sassy yet, but at least her ribs aren't sticking out anymore.

She better keep eating so I can go back to devoting all my time to being herd queen and milking nanny.

Crazy Driver

When we were in the pasture the other day, Angel thought she'd take advantage of the human walking around.

She decided she'd go for a little joy ride. This looked like a nice cozy seat.

All she needed was to figure out which one of these things would start it.

Maybe it was up here.

Oops. That didn't do anything either. Darn! Maybe there's something in the glove box to get it going.

At least there's air in the tires if it ever starts.

Well, there's plenty of gas. Hmmm. What next.

Maybe just a little lick to see if it tastes good since it won't start.

Ew. Ick. Pfft. Gross!

This beautiful guy spent a lot of time building a fancy web.

This poor Fancy girl got her ear caught in it.

I don't think either one was happy.

I bet the spider was more upset than Fancy.

This is Better!

Today we have great sunshine!

This is much better!

We get to go out and eat in the sunshine and have fun!

I have Millie's blog. How did I end up with her daughter too?

Isn't Vesta cute?
I found the perfect tree to scratch between my horns.

Betty Lou, my daughter, thought that looked like a good idea.

Something certainly had Joe's attention.

Lily found some flowers.

Bambi liked the flowers too.

We were all happy to have better weather.

It has been raining for two days straight. We are not happy about this. We are really not happy because the human didn't bring us any hay.

Not Millie and Scarlet and Flower and Bud. They got hay. It must have made them happy because Millie was playing music tonight. It's the first she's been playing her horns in a while. She had only been beating them to try and get the casts off. You can even see the black where she's been beating them.

I hope that playing the horns means she's feeling better.

Bed Tubs

This is where little kids, like Mo, like to sleep.

Okay, Vesta is getting a bit too big for this I think.

Dana and Dixie sleep together like salt and pepper shakers, kind of. The geese are starting to molt--feather bed!

Here is where the big ox likes to sleep.

Actually, he was watching them do this. It scared us from going out to pasture for a while this evening.

Peacekeeping Mission

Millie has been shut up and not feeling well for a while, but she does act better. She has a bit more energy.

Now she's just crabby. She's cranky.

Throw my daughter Betty Lou into the mix and Millie's wasting all of her energy on fighting.

I have to step in to intervene. I hope she knows I'm not going to keep doing this forever.

She needs to store up that energy, gain weight, and take back her place in the herd.
